Overview and Goal
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main goal is to have a TRUE Windows based point system.
As we go through the development of the project I'm sure that
not all will have their needs met. What I would like to see accomplished
is a Windows based point system that does not require the need and/or
support of a mailer or a nodelist and to cut out as much of the mail jargon as
possible. The end result of the project would be something that could resemble
an off-line mail reader with no qwk/rep packets and no mailer or nodelist is
needed to send or receive mail. I would like to have a Standard and Pro version
of WIN-MAIL. In the Standard version you will have only one BOSS NODE (also
known as a Host) to send and receive mail and only 20 echos (Message Areas).
As you see, by sending and receiving mail to only one site, there is no need
for a nodelist.
I know that we will hear statements like:
* I need to be able to be a point of more than one system.
* I want to be able to send/rec. mail from CompuServe, MCI, etc...
* I need more than 20 echos (Message Areas)
* I want to Freq files from systems
* I want to be able to have archive folders so that I can arc up messages
* And several that have not be mention as of yet
All of these request are not unreasonable, however, we are doing a point
system that will allow a non-guru to send/rec. mail without all of the
usual hassles (they're really not hassles but for a person who
is new to echo mail there appears to be TONS of stuff to get through just to
send/rec. mail). These request and others can be added to the Pro version
and later revisions. If the program does fulfill a person needs and the
popularity of the program grows, then it's perfectly justifiable to allocate
more funds to make a Pro version. At this point (no pun intended) we have no
idea where this project will take us, but hopefully it will be in the right
direction so as to allow us to continue development of future releases and
other Window based products for the modeming community. With the help of users
and sysops I'm sure in time (you'd be surprise how little time things take when
people set their minds to it) we can have a product that will do what WE (the
modeming community) want and future products as well.
Please let me know your thoughts on the overview and goals of WIN-MAIL.
This is the only way we can insure the success of the project.
I can be reached at the numbers and addresses above, between 10am and 2pm
central standard time.
Faxes are accepted 24 hrs. a day
Have a good one and looking forward to hearing from ya!
